"QUALITY RINGS AND BANDS FOR YOUR QUALITY BIRDS"
Care should be taken when fitting rings and bands.
If in doubt, seek assistance, especially with split rings .
There are many experienced aviculturists in Bird Clubs and associations who tell horrific tales of birds being caught on branches etc. We believe in most cases the fault was probably not the band itself but the size or application.
From our own personal experience, we purchased a bird and were horrified to see the poor thing's rung leg was swollen to twice its normal size and the bird was in a great deal of discomfort... (and this didn't happen overnight... )
Removal of the ring was necessary, and since then there have been no further problems.
This ring was too small...ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL !!!!
Lessons from this: Check your birds , make sure the rings are not moving too far up or down on leg.
DO NOT OVER CLOSE SPLITS .
Maintain your aviaries, loose wires are a hazard.!
A correctly fitted band should move freely without moving onto the lower or upper joints of the leg.
CLOSED RINGS ARE FOR BABY BIRDS, Most need to be fitted between 7 to 14 Days.
